Safeguarding and Safety at Bunnies Daycare

Safeguarding is about protecting children from harm, promoting their welfare, and ensuring safe, supportive environments where they can thrive. It is a fundamental duty of everyone working in early years settings.

🌟 Why Safety is Important at Bunnies Daycare:

Protects Children from Harm

Young children are naturally curious and don’t yet understand danger.

Safety measures prevent accidents like falls, burns, or choking.

Ensures children are protected from risks both indoors and outdoors.

Creates a Calm and Trusting Environment

When children feel safe, they are more confident to explore, play, and learn.

A safe environment helps children form strong, trusting relationships with staff.

Supports Healthy Development

Physical safety supports children's gross and fine motor development through safe play and movement.

Emotional safety helps build resilience, self-esteem, and positive behavior.

Fulfills Legal and Ethical Responsibilities

Safety is part of the nursery’s duty of care.

Staff follow legal requirements like risk assessments, first aid, and health and safety policies.

Sets a Good Example for Children

Teaching children how to be safe (e.g., tidying up, using equipment properly) helps them learn lifelong habits.

What we have to ensure your children's safety -

CCTV System

CCTV in our daycare setting enhances safety by helping protect children, monitor staff practices, and investigate incidents. It acts as a deterrent to unsafe behavior, supports staff training, and provides reassurance to parents. When used responsibly and in line with privacy laws, CCTV is a valuable tool for maintaining a secure, transparent, and high-quality childcare environment. It also allows the use of the outdoor equipment to be used safely, ensuring staff are creating a safe environment.

Gates and Locks

Within the Setting, Gates are used all around to ensure the safety of the children, including a Deadlock on the main entrance. These gates are shut at all times unless staff are moving through them, alone or with children. As well as this, staff mobile devices are locked in a cupboard in the reception to secure the children's online safety.

Safety Mats

In our outdoor area with climbing frames and swings, safety mats are placed all around to improve safety in case of a fall. This allows the children to explore more within the safety of the shelter.

Ring Doorbell

A Ring doorbell enhances the safety of children in a daycare by allowing staff to see and speak to anyone at the door before granting access, helping prevent unauthorized entry. It records video footage, which can be reviewed if there are any concerns or incidents, and provides real-time alerts, adding an extra layer of security and peace of mind for both staff and parents.
